Classroom Instruction

In the Classroom Instruction component, you will learn the attributes, skills and knowledge you will need to become a Health Care Aide. (Also known as a “Nursing Attendant” by Alberta Health Services in their career postings)

Lab Instruction and Practice

In the Lab Instruction and Practice component, you will learn and practice basic care nursing skills such as aseptic sterile techniques, catheter care, transferring clients, taking vital signs; in fact, all the basic care nursing skills that are needed for success in the Clinical Practice Components and in gaining employment!

Clinical Practicums

In the Clinical Instruction component, you are coached by your clinical instructor in a actual health care facility, supporting actual clients in that facility. You will apply the attributes, skills, and knowledge, you will need to become employed as a Nursing Attendant/ Health Care Aide.

Continuing Education Courses for Graduates

These continuing education certificates are offered to you at no additional cost when you complete the Nightingale Academy program.

Provincial Exam Review and Preparation

Nightingale Academy students attend a review of the program with an instructor, going over typical areas tested on the HCA Provincial Exam. Nightingale Academy pays for the student’s practice provincial exam as well as the $200 provincial exam. Nightingale Academy also provides a dedicated provincial exam test room for all students.

These activities help support Nightingale Academy’s 100% Perfect pass rate for Nightingale Academy students taking the provincial exam.  (As of December 1, 2021.)

Resume and Career Search Support

Every student receives a professional resume template that includes the information about the student’s college successes as well as the student’s work history before attending Nightingale Academy.

Students receive print and digital copies of their resume we also coach and provide assistance to students applying for employment online.

These activities help achieve Nightingale Academy’s near perfect employment rate for graduates.
